Spark Ballymena 2015

Spark Ballymena first took place in 2007 with the aim of uniting Christians and sending them out to their local communities to share the message of God’s love and that’s still the aim for Spark Ballymena 2015. A week where the Christian volunteers can meet every morning for worship, teaching and prayer and then divide into groups to take the message of God’s purpose and love to various areas of the town and surrounding villages.

How can you get involved in Spark Ballymena 2015?

Who can become a volunteer?

If you’re available between Saturday 25th July – Sunday 2nd August you can take part, although the youngest volunteers need to be in Year 9 at secondary school and there is absolutely no upper age limit; only a passion to take the Good News of Jesus to others and see God’s name lifted high!

Where will Spark Ballymena 2015 teams be based?

Seventeen areas in total will have teams this year – these are Ballee, Ballykeel, Broughshane, Doury Road, Dunclug, Fisherwick, Fry’s Road, Garvagh, Glenarm, Harryville, Kells, Portglenone, Randalstown, Toome, Town Centre 1 (Smithfield), Town Centre 2 (Bandstand & Demesne) and Tullygarley. If you’re living in the greater Belfast area there’s also Spark Newtownabbey 2015 which runs this year from Saturday 8th to Sunday 16th August.

What will I be expected to do?

First of all, attend a training day on Saturday 25th so you are better prepared for the week ahead. Then every morning from Monday 27th – Friday 31st July all volunteers will meet in High Kirk Presbyterian Church on Thomas Street for a time of worship, prayer & teaching. You will then get lunch before heading out with your team to your specific area. There is no typical day but activities you might get involved in could include picking up litter, washing cars or windows, gardening, helping at community fun days or holiday Bible Clubs. You’ll be interacting with the people in the community you’re with for the week and showing them God’s love in many practical ways. You will get your dinner in the area you’re working in and then help out in the evening with events such as pampering evenings, team building games, helping at drop-in events or some other community based events depending on where you are based.
