Zach Owens has just stepped into his new role as Coordinator of Youth Ministry at West Presbyterian Church in Ballymena.
28-year-old Zach is married to Ellie and the couple have a young son, Ezra.
Sharing a little of his personal testimony, Zach revealed: “I am from San Diego, California. I was raised a Christian but didn’t really begin to follow Christ until my early twenties. The summer after graduating university I was working odd jobs trying to figure out what to do with my life and I got a strange urge to go to church, having not been in some time. I don’t remember much about the service, but that day the Lord called me out of darkness into his marvellous light, and my life has never been the same.”
Before coming to Northern Ireland, Zach served at churches and with Christian institutions in Oceanside, California; Jerusalem, Israel; and York, England.
As Coordinator of Youth Ministry, Zach will be seeking to help young people to grow and develop their walk with God as well as offering support to others to work on youth initiatives in the fellowships.
He went on to say: “What excites me about my role at West Church is that I get to train our youth in the way of Jesus and, hopefully, see them blossom into brave, wise, just, and compassionate people who love God, love their fellow humans, and are capable of impacting society with the gospel.”
Outside Church, Zach enjoys reading, watching films, getting out in nature, and spending time with his family.
