Radio Cracker Ballymena back on air and celebrating 30 years of broadcasting

Radio Cracker Ballymena is delighted to be back on air for 2022 with live shows being broadcast from their studios in The Fairhill Centre and in First Ballymena Presbyterian Church. Due to Covid-19 their broadcasts for last two years have been restricted to some pre-recorded shows, but this year they are back live on 107.6FM (in the Ballymena area) and online via their website – radiocracker.org.uk

This year is also that bit more special as they are celebrating 30 years of Radio Cracker in Ballymena, having started in 1992. To date approx £1.8m has been raised for charity projects all across the world, and in this 30th anniversary year they hope to have a great year of fundraising to support this year’s designated charities well as bringing lots of festive music, banter and fun to the town and surrounding area.

The charities they hope to fund projects for this year are –

  • Second Sight: for around 250 eye operations in Bihar State, India
  • Bread for Kenya: 20 rainwater collecting tanks for the Tharaka in Kenya
  • E3 Initiative: to supply tractor for a community in Zimbabwe to give food security
  • EMMS Intl: clean water access at Mulomba Health Centre in Malawi
  • Kids4school: to supply 100 bicycles for rural school children in Tanzania
  • Fields of Life: to build a borehole in Uganda
  • Samaritan’s Purse: to supply 10 sewing machines to vulnerable women in DR Congo

They are also pleased to say the very popular Schools Spot is back, with choirs from lots of the local schools coming into the Fairhill Centre to sing live over the next few weeks. The Radio Cracker shop is also open in the same unit as the studio in the Fairhill Centre, selling lots of handcrafted items and Christmas related products, eg Christmas cards, wrapping paper, gift tags and much more.

As always, Radio Cracker would like to thank the many local businesses for their support through sponsorship and advertising and to the public for their continued generosity in donating to the station. If you would like to support them this year, you can donate with card or cash at the RCB shop in the Fairhill Centre, you can donate safely online on their website or by phone where you see their QR code, eg on the What’s On In Ballymena noticeboard in Tesco Superstore, Larne Rd

They would also love you to tune in as much as possible on 107.6FM in the Ballymena area or on their website – they’re on air weekdays from 7:30am and Saturdays and Sundays from 8am, everyday up to Christmas Eve.
