Christian Aid launch exciting new resources for Churches

Several new resources have been produced by Christian Aid for churches this Autumn. Hopefully church leaders will find these useful in helping their congregations to think about the global situation at the moment – at a tricky time when we’re anxious and uncertain for our own families and communities as well.

Ruth Cooke, Head of Fundraising and Supporter Engagement told The Church Page:

“This Autumn we are focusing on the story of Angela, and her family, who is part of a coffee-growing community in Nicaragua which has been supported by Christian Aid to diversify into cocoa cultivation. Increasingly climate change has caused damage to their coffee harvest. However, cocoa is better adapted to the changing climate and gives them an alternative source of income.”

Downloadable online service resources:

“We have produced a ‘Global Neighbours’ service recognising and celebrating the way in which churches and individuals pulled together to support and care for their neighbours during the past year and encouraging us to continue to love our neighbours both near and far.

There are videos of prayers, a children’s talk, a reading and a sermon that church leaders can download and incorporate into their own online services.

All the service materials are available
here.”

Fundraising ideas:

“There are also some fundraising ideas such as the Brew and Bake inspired by the story of Angela’s coffee and cocoa harvest and featuring a delicious cookie recipe from Andrew Smyth, the 2016 finalist of BBCs The Great British Bake Off.

At the moment meeting indoors is difficult and so maybe our Big Walk idea might appeal to some churches as a fun social activity that small groups can take part in the outdoors, whilst raising money for a great cause.
