New extension officially opened at High Kirk Ballymena

The new extension at High Kirk Presbyterian Church Ballymena was officially opened on Saturday 27th October 2018. The congregation had been looking forward to The Big Day since building work began several months ago. So on Saturday, between 12 and 4pm, they were able to come and bring their friends and families to see around all of the new extension. This includes a spacious and modern welcome foyer, the new Birney Room, new offices and storage space. The extension was officially opened at 2pm by the Presbyterian Moderator Rt Rev Dr Charles McMullan.

From left to right: Rev Dr Martin McNeely Moderator of Ballymena Presbytery, Rev Norman Cameron Minister of High Kirk, Right Rev Dr Charles McMullen Moderator of the General Assembly who opened the building, Rev Dr Russell Birney retired minister of High Kirk in whose honour a room was named, Mr David Hamilton (Martin & Hamilton Construction), Mr Uel Marcus architect of the project.

The new extension at High Kirk Ballymena is now open.

The extension work has been carried out to a very high standard by local contractors, Martin & Hamilton and the architect was Mr Uel Marcus.

We asked the minister, Rev Norman Cameron, to tell us how the new extension will benefit the congregation and surrounding area.

“The extra space now provides the church with much better facilities to reach out to the local community with various ministries. This includes more space for our very popular English language classes. We will also be able to increase our Bags of Blessings ministry due to extra storage space for food, clothes and furniture. It will also benefit the many church organisations who use the premises on a regular basis. We are also planning to have the café area open to the public to drop-in for a coffee or tea in the near future.”
