‘Despising The Shame’ Seminars at Cullybackey Elim Church // Wednesday 26-Friday 28 March 2025

‘Despising The Shame’ is the title of a series of seminars that are being delivered by Cullybackey Elim Church and Christian charity, Progeny NI from Wednesday 26th until Friday 28th March 2025.
Running from 7.30pm-9.30pm each evening, these will look at the impact of interpersonal trauma on body soul and spirit.

You will hear sincere testimonies of healing from abuse, shame and self-hatred. Organisers pray that those who come may begin to experience healing from the Father’s heart of love for the abused.
Speakers will included Pastor Trevor Gillanders (Pastor of Cullybackey Elim), Ric Wilton (Counsellor and Psychotherapist with Progeny NI) and Dr Helen Forde (Consultant Physiatrist.)

The professionals will address how anxiety, low self-esteem, shame, addictions, self-harm, eating and body image disorders, people pleasing, isolation, disassociation and pornography use plus a wide range of mental and physical health conditions stem from critical, harsh, or abusive relationships.

Intended both for people who are seeking help as well as those seeking to support others, the seminars will offer a pressure-free space to simply listen and reflect.

The focus will be on combining professional trauma healing approaches and Christian perspectives on recovery from abuse There will be access to confidential prayer, compassionate care and connection to professional therapeutic services.
