Is The Smiles Foundation Container Challenge 2024 something you or your church group, school or friends and family could support this year? For many ‘Smiles’ volunteers around the UK this has become an annual event, because for several years now, a container packed with essential supplies has headed off from Ballymena in Northern Ireland to The Smiles Foundation headquarters in Cehei, North West Romania. This year is no different, so the challenge has been set to fill a 40′ container with everything on the ‘Smiles wishlist’ from nappies to incontinence pads, shampoo to dish washing liquid and much, much more! Why is the Container Challenge so important for The Smiles Foundation’s outreach?
The Smiles Foundation works with the marginalised and minority communities, the homeless, the vulnerable, the disabled, those who are abused, the children and the elderly in NW Romania. Many receive little or no help, but Smiles has been reaching out in that area for many years now, showing God’s love in practical ways. This is why the Container Challenge is so important as it allows them to continue their outreach to these people by supplying what they really need – the essentials that you and me take for granted!
