Christian Helpline launched to offer support to isolated people

A new Christian Helpline has been launched to offer support to people who are lonely and isolated, particularly because of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Run by New Kapporet, callers are promised listening and prayer support with no judgement, no preaching, no advice, and no direction. Rather, you will receive the love and compassion of Jesus just as you are.

Dawn, who is one of the listeners here in Northern Ireland, said: “This helpline started in lockdown 2020, from the need people had. Many felt lonely or isolated. Such was the effect of the pandemic on their mental health that they needed comfort or spiritual encouragement. Our service is like the Samaritans only we can pray with the caller and share scripture with them. It began in England and now covers all the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland. Callers also ring in from Europe.”

The helpline can be reached on 0808 801 0585. (This is a freephone number in the UK and calls will not show up on caller’s phone bills.) Lines are open from 3pm to midnight, seven days a week. Alternatively, you can email: niki@christianhelpline.uk.
