Ballymena Church Members Forum AGM – December 2020

Ballymena Church Members Forum has continued to meet throughout the autumn while observing current Government restrictions.

In November, the Forum held a joint Zoom meeting with Carrickfergus Churches Forum. The speaker, the Very Rev Dr Norman Hamilton OBE, gave a timely and thought-provoking presentation and led discussion on the topic ‘A Christian Perspective on Brexit’. The level of debate and interest generated has indicated that a follow-up discussion would be worthwhile in early 2021. Further details of this event will be circulated in January.

The Forum held its 2020 AGM on Monday 7th December 2020. Those attending were encouraged by the variety and quality of activities during the previous 15 months to the present. Eileen Gallagher, Irish School of Ecumenics, hosted the Zoom meeting and conducted the elections for office bearers and steering committee.

Jennifer McLernon was unanimously re-elected as Chairperson with 4 current members of committee: Noreen Dornan, Reverend Dr Norman Hamilton, Sally Ann Johnston and Canon Stuart Lloyd. Barbara Hutchinson resigned from the committee as did Phoebe McDonald who has held the office of Vice Chairperson for the last 3 years. Sean O’Boyle was unanimously elected as Vice Chairperson. In her absence Angela Fairbairn has been co-opted to join the committee in 2021.
