An evangelism training workshop will take place on Tuesday 5th February 2019. The venue is the Coaching4Christ Centre, The Diamond, Ahoghill, Ballymena. The workshop will run from 7pm (to finish approx 9pm) and the cost is £10 each (pay at the door)
The speakers are Willis McDowell and Joel Leakey.
How to lead someone to faith in Christ.
Does the thought of doing evangelism frighten you?
Do you find yourself tongue-tied in front of somebody when you really want to tell them about Jesus and lead them to faith?
Are you convinced you don’t have the personality for this?
Do you feel others are “anointed” for evangelism but not you?
This workshop is for you! Two local evangelists with very different life experiences will share their approaches in an engaging and accessible way.
Willis McDowell – Willis, who until recently pastored a local church, is now in full time evangelistic work. For many years he served with Teen Challenge and became their Northern Ireland Director in 1985. He also served with Christian Youth Ministries. Willis’s heart is for evangelism. Not only reaching out to people himself but encouraging others to do the same. He is aware that many people are afraid of evangelism and in order to change this mindset he has devised a very simple course called Telling Your Story. This enables people to see their worth and how they can easily become an evangelist.
Joel Leakey – Over the last two years, Joel was a missionary in San Diego with Commonwealth Church, learning what it looked like to take the gospel to the different cultures and people groups of a fast-moving and 97% unchurched city. He also trained and led the Healing on the Streets team there. He currently helps train the students on the Encounter School of Mission (Causeway Coast Vineyard) in outreach. For him effective evangelism is something we can all learn through practice and just doing it; it’s not about a rigid formula, but is all about connecting with and loving the individual in the moment and inviting the Holy Spirit into the encounter.
