Spark gathers local Christians together in the Ballymena and Newtownabbey areas to practically serve God and love others in a variety of ways. Spark volunteers, aged 13+,  offer things such as free gardening, car washes and litter picks. They also help to organise youth drop-ins, cafés, sports, music and late night events.

Explaining what happens each day, a Spark spokesperson told The Church Page:
“We gather each morning for worship and fellowship. Everyone then eats together and divides into our areas for the rest of the day. We have multiple areas around the Ballymena area where we seek to show the love of Jesus. Much of this is practical stuff like gardening, car washes or clean ups. It also involves going door-to-door and prayer as well as youth drop-ins, sports, music and late-night events.
The vision is for young people to live out the Kingdom of God.”

“For our young people this looks like…
Young people living bold, passionate and powerful lives in Jesus Christ, because they’ve accepted Him in their hearts, through the Word, worship and prayer. The vision is seeing young people being transformed in to the likeness of Jesus- in character and desires. Also seeing them trying and embracing their gifts and being sent into the world where they are prepared and equipped to live out the Kingdom.”

“For our town this looks like…
Ballymena being shaken up by the love of Jesus. Seeing the lives of people in our town being changed by the gospel, bringing healing and the miraculous.”

This year, Ballymena Sparkers can apply to serve in the following areas:
Ballee, Broughshane, Ballykeel, Doury Road, Dunclug, Fisherwick, Kells, Portglenone, Town Centre, Town Centre – Praying on the Streets and Tullygarley.
