Thrive Seniors at Green Pastures

Thrive Seniors at Green Pastures is for those who have got to a certain age and are now perhaps called ‘granny’ or ‘grandad’! or are maybe helping family by picking the grandchildren up from school!
Sometimes however, it’s nice to hear your own name, enjoy a meal with friends your own age or just enjoy a bit of time to yourself. Equally, while you are proud of the home you have built up it’s good to get out for a few hours, especially if you are on your own or if you and your spouse are in the house together all day.
If that’s you then maybe you would enjoy this ministry – Thrive Seniors at Green Pastures Church.

Thrive Seniors at Green Pastures

Norma McKinney, who co-ordinates the group, explained: “Thrive exists to cater for the needs of senior members of our community and our church family!”
“Life doesn’t stop with retirement so what better time to get out and about and meet some new people! We want you to know that you are treasured, valued and respected. Join us at our Thrive every Tuesday at 12noon and let us introduce you to a ‘friend that sticks closer than a brother”, she smiled.

Thrive Seniors at Green Pastures meets every Tuesday during ‘term time’ from 12 noon until 2.00pm where members of the group enjoy a varied programme each week.

Norma went on to say: “Our primary aim is to share the Gospel; at our last meeting we heard testimonies and next week, there will be a guest speaker.”
“We also want to provide a social outlet for people aged 60+. Our members also get the chance to participate in ‘keep fit’, quizzes, crafts, worship, fellowship etc. We have seniors from all over Ballymena and surrounding villages and from all churches.”
A delicious three-course lunch is also served and there is no charge although you may give a voluntary contribution.
Everyone aged 60+ is welcome at Thrive Seniors at Green Pastures Church and limited transport is available in the Ballymena area. Please contact GP Reception on 028 2565 0123 to arrange a pick up.
