Ahoghill and Portglenone Parishes Celebrate Christmas

Lots of services are planned as Ahoghill and Portglenone Parishes celebrate Christmas!

Here’s what’s happening in both of the local parish churches –
The Rector would like to pay special attention to this event –  ‘The Blue Christmas Service.’
This takes place on Tuesday, 22nd December 2015 at 7.30pm in St. Colmanell’s in Ahoghill. Revealing a little more about this, Rector, Rev. Gary Millar, said: “Christmas can be a painful time for some. It may be the first Christmas without a loved family member who has recently died, or it may be a time that has always been difficult. The constant refrains on radio and television about the happiness of the season or about getting together with family and friends, reminds many people of what they have lost. The pain of death, loss of a job, distance of relatives, or just “feeling off” doesn’t always ring true with the joy we expect to feel.”
“We need the space and time to acknowledge our human feelings; we need to know that we are not alone. We also need encouragement to live the days ahead of us. Join us for a different kind of service this year. A service of quiet and songs, a service of hope and joy. A service where we can express our discontent to God, and make room for the peace we need to hear this season”, he added.
