Prayer Time | September 2014

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances: for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5 v 16 – 18

Here at The Church Page we’ve been asking for prayer for various events happening over the summer. Now we would like to say thanks to God for answered prayer.

Heavenly Father we want to pause and thank you for pouring out Your blessing on so many events, missions and outreach activities which were happening over the summer. We are so glad to hear stories from all over the province about many people coming to faith in You and leaders and volunteers whose faith has been strengthened as they’ve got involved in serving their communities and You in summer events. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Will you join with us this month as we bring our requests to God  –

BACK TO SCHOOL!!  At the start of September this big event affects many of us!  So let’s pray for all the young people in our communities as they start school for the first time, move to a new classroom or for some to a new school. Also remember all the students who will be starting college or uni in the next few weeks and for some that will mean moving away from home, so pray that those young people will quickly come into contact and get involved with the Christian community wherever they go.

CHURCH ORGANISATIONS – Although some keep going throughout the summer, this month will see our church calendars fill up again. Let’s pray for wisdom for the leaders of the various organisations. Whether that’s a leader of a mums and tots, a youth organisation, a Bible study or a house group, recreation and fellowship group  and many others, the leaders need our prayers as they make decisions, pass on skills, listen and talk to those who attend. They have a lot of responsibility so we pray that God would guide and enable them as they prepare and oversee their programmes and that through their work they will be able to pass on the good news of Jesus to everyone who attends these events.

Some events happening throughout NI in September which we could be praying for include:

  • ‘A Dangerous Faith’ – Church of Ireland Bishop’s Bible Week from 1st – 4th September in Willowfield Church, Belfast. For full details to pray more specifically click here.
  • ‘Lord Help Us’ – A 1 day conference in Wellington Presbyterian Church, Ballymena on 6th September. Seminars dealing with 3 very topical issues in the world today. You can read our blog about this by clicking here and also remember to register if you are intending to go as well as pray for this event.
  • 100th Irish C.E. Convention in Immanuel Church, Belfast on 19th & 20th September. In this special anniversary year for the C.E. let’s pray for the work they do among our young people. As a non-denominational movement they “seek to teach and train it’s members for service in their local church” and promote “commitment to Christ, the local church and fellow believers”

Thank you for praying with us. We would like more and more people praying for what’s happening in the churches and communities around Northern Ireland so please feel free to share and retweet this among your friends as we pray for and with each other.
