Country Gospel Christmas Concert at Glenmachan Church of God
in aid of Kids4School
You are invited to a Country Gospel Christmas Concert at Glenmachan Church of God, Belfast on Thursday 6th December 2018. Christian charity, Kids4School, is set to benefit from donations lifted at the event.
Starting at 8pm, the evening will be hosted by The Morrisons. They will be joined on stage by Revelation, Live Issue and Margaret Johnston. A donation of £5 is requested at the door for the Kids4School charity.
Joanne McFarlane, Deputy Director of the charity told us more about their work.
She said: “Kids4School is a Christian mission that supports some of the poorest children in Tanzania, East Africa. The mission was started by Rev Tom Robinson in 2009 after his return from a trip to Tanzania. It was here he identified a need, not only for a way out of poverty for the children, but also the need for taking the Gospel to the people of Tanzania. The passion and vision that Tom had for Tanzania was very evident.
Two weeks after the mission commenced, all fifty children that had been registered had found sponsors. Since then, we currently have over 1600 children that are now off the streets and receiving an education through our child sponsorship program. Life is hard in Tanzania. Children are following in their parent’s footsteps and just continuing the cycle of poverty. Our aim is to break that cycle; offer the children a way out of poverty and we do this through education. The only thing that prevents children from going to School is money. Government states that all children must have a school uniform, pair of shoes and a few books to attend school. This financial obligation is way out of reach for many families and so Kids4School seek out people who are willing to pay for what the children need to attend school.”
“£39 will send a child to School for a whole year. Not only does this cover all their school needs, but also a hot meal every day while they are at school. We also build water storage tanks to provide clean water, build toilet blocks for better sanitation, deliver food & clothing aid to rural families and we also send mission teams every year to Tanzania where volunteers will tell of God’s love and also show the children the love of God through everything that they do. Bible clubs are undertaken at the Schools with crafts, Bible stories, memory verses, singing. Also lots of sweets and balloons are distributed.”
